Where is technology taking us? Well, the first thing is away from a keyboard and mouse and out into the real world. I’ve seen several technologies as of late which are pushing us away from the desk and allowing us to engage with surfaces out in the real world.

In a recent post from Gizmodo, we see one photographer’s idea of the future of print, ala Minority Report.

And then I saw this video the other day from MadPoison Lounge here in Chicago for a Microsoft Surface application which enables customers to order drinks directly from a projected interface. Pretty cool.

And you can even take it one step further and eliminate any sort of specialized surface all together and just use a standard wall or table using The Sixth Sense. Sixth Sense is a projection device that interacts with the internet and other visual systems in real time and projects data it finds onto the surface in front of you, even if it’s a person.

And as these technologies becomes easier to implement and more ubiquitous, you can expect to see these applications not just in the B2C realm, but B2B as well. They may not necessarily be used for marketing efforts, but could be used to improve enterprise functions such as inventory or data visualization or trade shows interactions, or even making outdoor advertising more compelling. Have you seen one of these in the wild already? Let us know the comments.
