A lot of people today have GPS in their cars and on their phones. Augmented reality is starting to gain a lot of interest. Gamers are testing it to make ground-breaking games, which will still be a while off. Our creative and digital strategy team stays on top of the latest tidbits on the concept of augmented reality. Today when I came across this app for the iPhone, I was excited to share it with the team.

The iPhone 3GS is just out and already people are tapping into the video source to bring about augmented reality mixed with direction. The future of GPS might be in this video. Google Maps has street view, which is amazing and scary at the same time, yet it is static. This app brings your reality in check to point out where you are going. The digital compass brings better direction to the phone. Now when you look at the map you can see what direction you are facing. All of this has been used in the app to provide the person with basically a guided tour on how to get to the nearest tube. I really like the onscreen information on how far you are from the tube and also how you can turn around to see where other tubes are. If this goes over well, stay tune for many more apps that will bring augmented reality to the iPhone and other devices. Who knows it might even be found integrated into their maps in the future?
