Kelley and I had a conversation this morning that reminds me that there are members of our team that want to grow their online chops and would love suggestions on where to start.

My team and I are always passing links around when we see things that are cool, interesting, or pertinent to what we do, but we do a great job of sharing these links. Thankfully, this is an issue we can easily address.

I am going to start sharing these links both here on our blog, and also adding them to our del.isio.us account for everyone’s reference.

As I think about how I use the web to support what I do, I really have three classes of sites I reference:

  1. Foundation:  These are sites that are the bedrock of digital strategy.  These are sites that contain the core knowledge of best practices and strategies that inform our every-day decisions.
  2. Framing:  These are links to content that offers additional insight into how our digital industry and marketing in general are evolving.
  3. Décor:  These are links to content that demonstrate through artistry, strategy, or execution the state-of-the-art for our industry.

Moving forward, I and my team will be providing links classified in this way to help provide anyone interested a look at the information that is guiding my team daily.  I also would like to encourage all others to jump on board and share your knowledge and resources.

For today, here are a few Digital Strategy links to check out:

Foundation:

  • http://www.useit.com : This is Jakob Nielsen’s website.  He is widely known as the leading voice on web usability.  I check this site out for new content once a week.  If you want to design interfaces for the web, this site is required reading.
  • http://www.alistapart.com : I subscribe to this blog through RSS and read new articles as soon as they come out.  This site is all about elegant standards based web design.  It also has some general advice for web designers and developers.
  • http://www.clickz.com : This is another site I subscribe to the feed from.  This is a great site for getting general information about trends in online marketing.

Framing:

Décor:

Enjoy!
