I LOVE working at an integrated agency! As I mentioned in a previous post, I also work at a Junior Olympic volleyball club based out of UIC, Powerhouse Volleyball Club. This year we began helping our 17 and 18-year-old athletes who are seeking athletic scholarships to continue playing volleyball in college. A major part of the recruiting process is the filming and distributing of skills videos, which I filmed and edited digitally. What did I know about editing digital footage? Nada. What did I know about uploading high quality videos to the Internet? Nada.
(*cue superhero music*) DON HARDER TO THE RESCUE! With Don’s guidance, I was able to trim and edit my players’ videos down to the preferred length, as well as upload them to Vimeo and YouTube at the highest quality possible.
Talk about a success story–in under a week and with no proactive outreach, the head coach of Valparaiso University found Mary Dent’s video by searching for “volleyball recruiting video” on YouTube (fellow player Caroline Brander is the #2 listing on Google under the same search term!), visited her practice and offered her a full-ride scholarship.
From the metatags that I wrote (learned from our SEO guru Jeff Woelker) to the creative editing tips (via Don Harder) this is a fantastic success story of how effectively each level of the marketing mix can work, no matter what business you are in!

I didn’t do a thing!!! Matt: It was all you. But it’s great to see that these little touches can really make a difference in presentation. Keep doing what you’re doing, Matt!!!
Congrats Matt! Glad I could help. Congrats to Mary as well.
That is awesome! Great for you and I’m sure even more thrilling for Mary and her family – a full ride for free!
